Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
West Bengal Assembly witnessed chaos as Speaker Biman Banerjee suspended BJP MLA Dipak Barman for alleged unparliamentary conduct, prompting a BJP walkout. The Speaker said he repeatedly warned BJP MLAs but had to call marshals as they did not comply. Two other BJP MLAs, including Manoj Oraon, were removed by marshals after protests erupted when Hiran Chattopadhyay’s speech was allegedly cut short.
Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari condemned the action, calling the Speaker and marshals’ treatment of Dipak Barman and Manoj Oraon an “insult.” BJP accused the Speaker of bias, while TMC defended the move, citing the need for discipline.
